ABOUT THIS RELEASE


PURPOSE

This Patch includes files for use with Alert
Manager. These new files resolve the
outstanding issues listed in "Resolved Issues"
and "Additional Resolved Issues."


RESOLVED ISSUES

1. ISSUE:
   Microsoft Windows 2003 is not a supported
   platform for Alert Manager 4.7 through
   ePolicy Orchestrator(TM).

   RESOLUTION:
   The new .NAP file allows Microsoft Windows
   2003 as a supported platform for Alert
   Manager 4.7.


ADDITIONAL RESOLVED ISSUES

2. ISSUE:
   This patch contains Alert Manager 4.7 Patch
   1 fixes to the following issues with Alert
   Manager:

    -  The "#" character was not allowed in the
       e-mail address field.
    -  The IP address could not be used when
       specifying a target computer for
       forwarding alerts.

   RESOLUTION:
   You can now use the # character in an e-mail
   address and use IP addresses when forwarding
   alerts.

3. ISSUE:
   This patch contains Alert Manager 4.7 Patch
   4 fix to the following issue with Alert
   Manager:

    -  The Alert Manager 4.7 .NAP file does not
       allow an "@" symbol in the login field
       located on the "E-Mail settings -- Web Page
       Dialog" policy page.

   RESOLUTION:
   You can now use the "@" symbol in the E-Mail
   settings login field.

This Patch consists of a package called
AMG47006.ZIP, which contains the following
files:

      Management .NAP file used by ePolicy
      Orchestrator for the Alert Manager
      product

INSTALLATION


INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

To use this release, you must have Alert
Manager 4.7 software installed on the computer
you intend to update with this release.

   NOTE:
   This release does not work with earlier
   versions of Alert Manager software.

INSTALLATION STEPS

For ePolicy Orchestrator 2.5.1

1. Extract the .NAP Update files from
   AMG47006.ZIP and copy them to a temporary
   folder.


2. Start the ePolicy Orchestrator console and
   log on to the ePolicy Orchestrator server.

3. In the console tree under ePolicy
   Orchestrator, right-click "Repository," then
   select "Configure Repository." The Configure
   Software Repository window appears.

4. Select "Add new software to be managed."

5. Click "Continue" to open the Select a
   Software Package window.

6. Select the AMG470.NAP file from the
   temporary folder you created in Step 1
   above.

7. Click "Open" to add the product to the
   Repository. Click "Yes" when asked if you
   want to overwrite the existing software
   package.

8. Close the ePolicy Orchestrator console for
   the changes to take place.



For ePolicy Orchestrator 3.0

1. Extract the file AMG470.NAP from
   AMG47006.ZIP, and copy it to a temporary
   folder.

2. Open the ePolicy Orchestrator console and
   highlight "Repository" in the console tree.

3. Select "Manage Packages."

4. Select "Alert Manager 4.7" and delete the
   package.

5. From the console tree, navigate to the
   following location:
       Managed Products
          Windows
             Alert Manager
                4.7.0
   Right-click and select "Remove."

6. Close the ePolicy Orchestrator console.

7. Open the ePolicy Orchestrator console.

8. Select "Manage Packages."

9. Select "Add Packages." Add the original
   Alert Manager 4.7 install package.

10.Select "Add NAP." Browse to the temporary
   folder where you extracted AMG470.NAP, and
   select the .NAP file.



REMOVING THIS RELEASE

To remove this Patch, you must reinstall the
original Alert Manager .NAP file, using the
directions from "Installation Steps," but
substituting the original .NAP file for the
Patch .NAP file. You can find a copy of the
original .NAP file with the installation files
for Alert Manager 4.7.0.
