ABOUT THIS HotFix

PURPOSE

This HotFix is designed to resolve several
issues with NAIMSERV.EXE listed below.

RESOLVED ISSUES

1. ISSUE:
   The ePolicy Orchestrator server service
continues to accept agent HTTP connections
when SQL connections are broken. This might
   cause the ePolicy Orchestrator server
   service to stop responding.

   RESOLUTION:
NAIMSERV.EXE will properly detect if the SQL
server connections are broken accepting HTTP
connections. The server will try to
reconnect to the SQL server every 30
   seconds.

2. ISSUE:
   On some multiple CPU configurations,
   NAIMSERV.EXE could experience
mutli-threading issues and cause a Dr.
   Watson error.

   RESOLUTION:
NAIMSERV.EXE will now handle multiple CPU
   threads correctly.

3. ISSUE:
Due to a technical limitation, when the ePO
server has more than 512 connections, some
agent requests may not be processed.

   RESOLUTION:
NAIMSERV.EXE will now handle all agent
   requests correctly.

4. ISSUE:
If you are refreshing the Server Event
Viewer on two consoles at the same time, the
   ePolicy Orchestrator server service could
   stop responding.

   RESOLUTION:
The ePolicy Orchestrator server service will
   now handle this situation correctly.

ADDITIONAL RESOLVED ISSUES

1. ISSUE:
If a language other than English, French,
German, Japanese, or Spanish was selected in
Regional Settings, the message "The selected
snap-in did not initialize properly" was
displayed when you tried to start the
   ePolicy Orchestrator console. Now,
regardless of the language selected, the
console starts. In addition, if the language
selected is something other than English,
French, German, Japanese, or Spanish, the
   console displays in English.

2. ISSUE:
If you are using ePolicy Orchestrator
authentication, you are logged in to the
   ePolicy Orchestrator server with the
   administrator account, and the server
resides in a master domain, you were unable
to push agents to nontrusted resource
domains. You can now push agents using this
   method.

3. ISSUE:
The ePolicy Orchestrator server will now use
the IP address to perform an agent wake-up
call. If this isnt successful then it will
use DNS, then NetBIOS to resolve the
   computer name.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONALITY

1. SRVMON.EXE is an ePolicy Orchestrator server
monitor that will restart the service if it
   stops.

CALCULATING THE MINIMUM NUMBER OF SQL LICENSES

   For each ePO Server:
   (Number of CPUs * 4 + 2)

   For Each Concurrent Remote Console:
   (add 2)

The total is the total number of SQL
licenses you will need for ePolicy
   Orchestrator server 2.0.

   For example:
2 ePO server with 4 CPUs each
   (4 CPUs * 4 + 2) * 2 (each server)= 36
   4 Remote consoles
   (4 * 2) = 8

Total number of SQL licenses needed = 44
