ABOUT THIS HOTFIX

PURPOSE

This HotFix updates the ePolicy Orchestrator
agent install files to resolve the following
issues.

RESOLVED ISSUES

1. ISSUE:
The "TaskID" (Global ID:Node ID) is an
internal number that the agent uses to
identify tasks and can be found in the task
   INI files. For example: TaskID=1078:6850_1,
where 1078 is the Global ID and 6850_1 is
the Node ID. When the "TaskID" becomes 10
characters or more it causes a buffer
overflow to occur and causes a range of
problems from the task not compiling
properly to a crash in NAIMAS32.EXE.

   RESOLUTION:
The "TaskID" now allows for 50 characters.

ADDITIONAL RESOLVED ISSUES

1. ISSUE:
On Low bandwidth connections, the agent
times out with the error "Failed to connect
   to Server."

   RESOLUTION:
The agent now retries connecting to the
server six times before it times out.

2. ISSUE:
When compiling new policy files, the agent
   can exhibit a memory leak.

   RESOLUTION:
A memory leak no longer occurs during
   compilation of new policy files.

3. ISSUE:
In some situations, after creation or
modification of 20 tasks per agent, the
agent fails to create a valid .TSK file on
the client due to a buffer overflow.

   RESOLUTION:
The agent no longer has a buffer overflow in
this situation, allowing it to create a
   valid .TSK file.

4. ISSUE:
When Windows 95 clients attempt to connect
to the ePolicy Orchestrator server through
   dial-up networking, the dial-up detection
   option does not work correctly.

   RESOLUTION:
Windows 95 clients now properly detect
   dial-up networking.

5. ISSUE:
When upgrading from McAfee VirusScan version
   4.5.0 to version 4.5.1 on Windows 95
clients, NAIMAS32.EXE could cause an invalid
   page fault in KERNEL32.DLL.

   RESOLUTION:
A page fault no longer occurs in this
   situation.

6. ISSUE:
On certain Microsoft Windows 95 systems,
NAIMAS32.EXE would cause an invalid page
fault after approximately one minute of
   operation.

   RESOLUTION:
A page fault no longer occurs after
   approximately one minute.

NOTE:
The new POAGINST.EXE file that is created after
installing this HotFix has a version stamp
identical to the previous version (376). This
does not affect the ePolicy Orchestrator agent
AutoUpgrade Feature.

INSTALLATION

To use this HotFix, you must have ePolicy
Orchestrator 2.0 installed on the computer you
intend to update with this HotFix.

NOTE:
This HotFix does not work with earlier or later
versions of ePolicy Orchestrator.

INSTALLATION STEPS

1. Create a temporary folder on the hard drive
    of the ePolicy Orchestrator server.

2. Extract the HotFix files from EPO2012.ZIP
    to the temporary folder.

3. Start the ePolicy Orchestrator 2.0 console
    and log in.

4. From the console, select the "Repository",
right-click it, and select the option
    "Configure Repository".

5. Select the option "Enable software
    deployment", then click "Continue".

6. Browse to the temporary folder you created
    in Step 2.

7. Select the file INSTALL.PKG, then click
    "Open".

8. Click "OK" once the package has finished
    installing.

9. Close the console.

10. Open Services for your server.

11. Select the "McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 2.0
    Server" service, then select "Stop".

12. Once the service has successfully stopped,
restart the service. At this time, the new
    POAGINST.EXE file is created.

13. Log into the ePolicy Orchestrator 2.0
    console.

As agents communicate to the ePolicy
Orchestrator server, they are automatically
upgraded. If you wish to deploy the HotFix
immediately, you must use an agent wakeup call
or deploy the new POAGINST.EXE file with a
software distribution tool. The new
POAGINST.EXE file created by the install can be
located in your ePolicy Orchestrator 2.0
installation directory. The default
installation directory is:

   C:\Program
   Files\McAfee\ePO\2.0\Db\software\ePOAgent2000\2.0.0.430\0409\InstallFiles\poaginst.exe

REMOVING THIS HOTFIX

Once the new version of the ePolicy
Orchestratory agent is loaded into the
Repository, there is no way to remove it.
