ABOUT THIS RELEASE


PURPOSE

This HotFix addresses the issue shown in the
RESOLVED ISSUE section below.

This HotFix is for use with McAfee GroupShield
version 5.0 Service Pack 2 Patch 1 for Microsoft
Exchange 5.5. The HotFix comprises one compressed
archive file.


    GS50SP2P1HF220064.ZIP


RESOLVED ISSUE

This HotFix potentially addresses the following
issue:


1.  After installing the 4400 olympus engine, on
    McAfee GroupShield 5.0 running on Microsoft NT
    4.0 server. The DAT update may fail causing
    incoming messages to be blocked.


FILES INCLUDED WITH THIS RELEASE

The HotFix consists of a package called
GS50SP2P1HF220064.ZIP, which contains the following
files:


    UPDSVC.EXE =
       McAfee On-Line update service.

    GSEBS.DLL  =
       McAfee GroupShield Exchange body scanning
       DLL.

    GSEVS.DLL =
       McAfee GroupShield Exchange virus scanning
       DLL for attachment scanning.

    MAPISCAN.DLL =
       McAfee MAPI scanning DLL for On-Demand scan.

    README.TXT =
       This text file.

    VALIDATE.TXT =
       Validation codes for the HotFix.

INSTALLATION


INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

To use this HotFix, you must have McAfee GroupShield
5.0 Service Pack 2 Patch 1 for Microsoft Exchange
5.5 software already installed on the computer you
intend to update. The HotFix will not work with any
earlier version of the software.


INSTALLATION STEPS


1.  Close all GroupShield Administration consoles
    that are running on the server or on any
    management console.

2.  Stop the following services in the same order
    listed below.

    - Microsoft Exchange Information Store.

       NOTE:
       A dialog box appears for the dependent
       services to be stopped.

       -   McAfee GroupShield for Exchange 5.5
       -   McAfee GroupShield On-Line Update
       -   McAfee GroupShield Store Post
       -   Microsoft Exchange Event Service
       -   Microsoft Exchange Internet Mail Service
           (If you have installed Internet Mail
           Connector)

3.  Click OK to confirm.

4.  Backup the following files from the GroupShield
    ./i386 directory.

   -   UPDSVC.EXE
   -   GSEBS.DLL
   -   GSEVS.DLL
   -   MAPISCAN.DLL

5.  On the GroupShield server, extract the
    GS50SP2P1HF220064.ZIP file to C:\Temporary
    directory.

    Extracted files:
   -   UPDSVC.EXE
   -   GSEBS.DLL
   -   GSEVS.DLL
   -   MAPISCAN.DLL

6.  Copy the extracted files into the GroupShield
    .\i386 directory.

7.  Start the following services in the order listed
    below.

   -   Microsoft Exchange Information Store
   -   Microsoft Exchange Event Service
   -   Microsoft Exchange Internet Mail Service (If
       you have installed Internet Mail Connector)
   -   McAfee GroupShield for Exchange 5.5
   -   McAfee GroupShield On-Line Update

    NOTE:
    The McAfee GroupShield Store Post will start
    when the Microsoft Exchange Information Store is
    running.


TESTING YOUR INSTALLATION

You can check that the HotFix is applied correctly
by verifying the file version of the extracted
files.

    UPDSVC.EXE              5.0.1218.14
    GSEBS.DLL               5.0.1218.14
    GSEVS.DLL               5.0.1218.14
    MAPISCAN.DLL            5.0.1218.14

REMOVING THIS RELEASE

We recommend that you do not remove the HotFix files
from your McAfee GroupShield 5.0 Service Pack 2
Patch 1 for Microsoft Exchange 5.5 server
installation once you installed them.
