ABOUT THIS HOTFIX

## PURPOSE ##

This HotFix replaces the update executable
and a .DLL file to allow successful
AutoUpdate activities on PCs that are
running non-U.S. English operating systems.

## RESOLVED ISSUES ##

If a user tried to run the AutoUpdate utility
on a PC with a non-U.S. English operating
system, the utility would open and
immediately close, or fail to open, or
generate an error.

This HotFix allows a PC with a non-U.S.
operating system to successfully run the
AutoUpdate utility.

## FILES INCLUDED WITH THIS HOTFIX ##

This HotFix consists of a package called
VWS200A.ZIP. The complete HotFix package
includes these files:

   VWUPDATE.EXE =
     AutoUpdate executable
   VSUTIL.DLL =
A utility library for VirusScan Wireless
   HOTFIXA.TXT =
     This text file
   PACKING.LST =
     Packing list for HotFix files

INSTALLATION

## INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS ##

To use this HotFix, you must have VirusScan
Wireless version 2.0 or 2.1 installed on the
computer you intend to update with the HotFix
software.

## INSTALLATION STEPS ##

1. Extract these HotFix files from VWS200A.ZIP
to a temporary folder on your hard drive:

      - VWUPDATE.EXE
      - VSUTIL.DLL

IMPORTANT
Make sure that you close all VirusScan Wireless
applications on your PC, and that you are not
running AutoUpdate or synchronization at the
  time you install this HotFix.

2. Make a copy of the original VWUPDATE.EXE
and VSUTIL.DLL files. If you installed
the VirusScan Wireless software in its
default location, you will find these files
    at:

        C:\Program Files\McAfee\VirusScan Wireless

You can either rename the existing files
    to VWUPDATE.EXE.BAK, and VSUTIL.DLL.BAK,
or move the files to a different location
on your hard drive. These files are useful
if you ever want to uninstall this HotFix
and restore the earlier files after replacing
them with the ones provided with this HotFix.

3. Copy the new files from the temporary folder
you created in Step 1 to the VirusScan
    Wireless folder.

If, in Step 2, you left the name of the
original files intact, allow the new files
to overwrite the original VWUPDATE.EXE and
    VSUTIL.DLL files.

The next time you run AutoUpdate, it will
use the new executable.

## REMOVING THIS HOTFIX ##

To remove this HotFix from your computer, either
copy the backup VWUPDATE.EXE and VSUTIL.DLL files
that you created back into the location specified in
Step 1 of "Installation Steps," or delete the
new files, then rename the old files with their
original extensions.

    NOTE

McAfee recommends that you do NOT remove the
HotFix file from your VirusScan Wireless
program directory once you install it. If you
reinstall your VirusScan Wireless 2.x software,
McAfee recommends that you also reinstall
    the HotFix file.
