   - Microsoft Windows Installer version 2.0

Make sure that you have installed these
versions before installing this Service Pack.

=====================================================

Thank you for using VirusScan Enterprise
software. This file contains important
information regarding this release. We strongly
recommend that you read the entire document.

   IMPORTANT:
McAfee Security strongly recommends that you
use any pre-release software (beta or
release candidate) in a test environment
only. Pre-release software should not be
   installed in a production environment.

McAfee Security does not support automatic
upgrading of a pre-release version of the
software. To upgrade to a later beta
release, a release candidate, or a
production release of the software, you must
first uninstall the existing version of the
   software.

ABOUT THIS RELEASE

PURPOSE

Installing this Service Pack upgrades the
VirusScan Enterprise 7.0.0 software to version
7.1.0 and resolves all of the issues that are
listed in the "Resolved Issues" section.

RESOLVED ISSUES

HotFixes

This section lists each of the HotFixes that
have been addressed and included in this
release:

1. ISSUE:
   HotFix01, Build 167.
   Files affected: UNINST.DLL

   When VirusScan Multi-platform (VSC) is
   installed and the Microsoft Windows
Installer (MSI) engine is upgraded to
version 2.0, an upgrade from VSC to
   VirusScan Enterprise (VSE) uninstalled the
legacy product and failed to install the new
   product.

   RESOLUTION:
When UNINST.DLL is used to remove any
MSI-based product, it also deletes the three
   registry values found under:

      HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{productguid}\
         RegCompany
         RegOwner
         ProductID

   NOTES:
Replace the UNINST.DLL file from the install
package with this HotFix version prior to
   installing VirusScan Enterprise 7.0. If
using ePolicy Orchestrator, the package must
be added to the repository after replacing
   UNINST.DLL.

2. ISSUE:
   HotFix02, Build 511
   Files affected: FTL.DLL

Wildcard characters used in exclusions were
   not being honored.

   RESOLUTION:
This HotFix replaces the file FTL.DLL to
resolve this issue with the criteria shown
   in Notes below.

   NOTES:
There are certain rules for exclusions to be
aware of to ensure that valid exclusions are
   created.

   - Valid wildcard characters are "?" and "*"
      for excluding single or multiple
      characters respectively.

   - A backslash "\" cannot follow wildcard
      characters. For example, "C:\abc\www?*"
      is valid and "C:\abc\www?*\123" is
      invalid.

   - An exclusion that does not begin with a
path or backslash "\" such as "WWW*" is
      treated as a file only.

   - An exclusion containing "?" characters
will apply if the number of characters
matches the length of the file or folder
name. For example, the exclusion "W??"
will exclude "WWW" but not "WW" or
      "WWWW".

3. ISSUE:
   HotFix04, Build 511
   Files affected: NAIAVF4X.SYS, NAIAVF5X.SYS,
   and NAIAVF5I.SYS

   This HotFix addressed two issues:

   - On Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Servers,
encrypted or network files may not be
      scanned, and VirusScan Enterprises user
impersonation routines may lead to a blue
      screen error.

   - When VirusScan Enterprise was installed
in addition to either F-Secure VPN or
Veritas Storage Replicator, a blue screen
      error would be seen.

   RESOLUTION:
   a. Place HotFix files into the VirusScan
      Enterprise 7.0 program folder, replacing
existing files with the same names. If
the file does not already exist, you do
      not have to copy it.

   b. Execute "naiavfin.exe I" from the
      VirusScan Enterprise 7.0 program folder
      using the command line.

   c. Restart the McShield service.

4. ISSUE:
   HotFix05, Build 519
   File affected: SCAN32.EXE

When utilizing the Memory Scan feature with
the action that is not "Clean
Automatically," the product would send an
Event ID 0 to Alert Manager if a virus were
   found.

   RESOLUTION:
Install this HotFix to replace the current
SCAN32.EXE with the new version included in
   this package.

5. ISSUE:
   HotFix06, Build 511
   Files affected: SETUP.EXE

If VirusScan 4.5.1 was installed without the
   AutoUpdate/AutoUpgrade component, the
upgrade to VirusScan Enterprise would result
in an error referring to a file called
   "Dodge5.bin."

   RESOLUTION:
Install this HotFix to replace the current
SETUP.EXE with the new version included in
   this package.

6. ISSUE
   HotFix07
   Files affected: NAIANN.DLL

Timed-out scans are incorrectly reported to
   ePolicy Orchestrator as "un-named viruses."

   RESOLUTION:
Timed-out scans are not reported to ePolicy
   Orchestrator as virus events.

Other Resolved Issues

The following list describes issues from the
previous release of this software product that
have been resolved with this current release.

1. ISSUE:
Resumable scanning does not work for
on-demand scan tasks created and deployed
using ePolicy Orchestrator 2.5.1 or ePolicy
Orchestrator 3.0. This occurs if the
   on-demand scan created in ePolicy
Orchestrator ends before the scan completes
   (due to a time-out, system shut-down, etc).
When the on-demand scan task starts again,
it begins scanning again at the beginning,
rather than resume from the last file
   scanned.

   RESOLUTION:
   Issue resolved. Resumable scanning works
correctly for on-demand scan tasks that are
   created and deployed using ePolicy
   Orchestrator.

2. ISSUE
When a user with user rights (as opposed to
   an administrator with administrator rights)
rolls back DAT files, the following error
   occurs:

"Failed to save the version of the DATs
that have just been rolled back"

This means that VirusScan Enterprise failed
to create the correct registry key
identifying that the rollback has occurred.
Because of this, performing an update can
allow the rolled-back DATs to be reapplied.
This can cause problems if the rolled-back
DAT versions were indeed corrupted (usually
the reason for performing a DAT rollback).

   Normally, VirusScan Enterprise does not
allow updating of DAT versions that have
   been rolled back.

   NOTE:
This problem only occurs when a
   non-administrator performs the DAT rollback.
When administrators do it, the rolled-back
DAT versions cannot be applied through
   updating.

   RESOLUTION:
Issue resolved. Rolled-back DATs cannot be
   reapplied.

KNOWN ISSUES

The following issues have been identified for
this release:

Installation

1. Installing this Service Pack using the Setup
utility GUI does not apply any custom
   settings that you specify.

We recommend using the silent installation
method to install this beta version of the
Service Pack. This ensures that any custom
settings you specify are applied. See
   "Installation Steps" for more information
   about installing silently.

2. A reboot is required after installing the
VirusScan Enterprise 7.1.0 Service Pack. The
computer may hang during startup in the
   following scenario:

   - Remove the VirusScan Enterprise 7.0.0
software, but do not reboot the
      computer.

   - Install the VirusScan Enterprise 7.0.0
      software.

   - Install the VirusScan Enterprise 7.1.0
      Service Pack.

   - Reboot the computer when you are
      requested to do so.

Rebooting the computer after the initial
   un-installation corrects this issue.

   NOTE:
Customers installing the Service Pack in a
Main-Path scenario should not encounter this
   issue.

ePolicy Orchestrator

1. The VirusScan Enterprise 7.1.0 Network
Associates Program (NAP) file is required if
you are planning to use ePolicy Orchestrator
to manage VirusScan Enterprise 7.1.0 policy
or task enforcement, or to remove or
   uninstall the software.

You must check the VirusScan Enterprise
7.1.0 NAP file in to ePolicy Orchestrator
   after installing the Service Pack.

   NOTE:
   Installing the VirusScan Enterprise Service
   Pack upgrades the VirusScan Enterprise
software from version 7.0.0 to version
7.1.0. You must use the VirusScan Enterprise
7.1.0 NAP file to manage the updated
   software.

Miscellaneous

1. Installing from an Administrative
Installation Point (AIP) after applying this
Service Pack to upgrade from VirusScan
Enterprise version 7.0.0 to version 7.1.0
causes the installation to fail. You must
install the full version of VirusScan
Enterprise 7.1.0, then create the AIP.

   Internal architectural changes between
   VirusScan Enterprise version 7.0.0 and
version 7.1.0 prevent you from successfully
installing from an AIP after applying the
Service Pack to upgrade the product from
version 7.0.0 to version 7.1.0. These
changes relate to the location of the DAT
   and engine signature files.
