INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

To use this release, you must have WebShield(R)
Appliance V3.0 software installed on the computer
you intend to update with this release. You must
also have HotFix HF208608 installed as a
prerequisite.

    NOTE:
This release does not work with earlier versions
    of WebShield(R) Appliance software.

INSTALLATION STEPS

To install this HotFix, follow these steps:

1. Create a temporary directory on your hard
disk and download the file WSehf211703.zip
from the McAfee website.

2. Extract the file WSe30HF211703-449.101.zip from
the
zip package (you may need a password from
McAfee support) to a location on your
network that can be accessed from the
WebShield appliance.

3. Open your Internet browser and browse to the
WebShield appliance, or use the WebShield
Client program to access the WebShield
appliance.

4. Log in to the WebShield appliance when
prompted by entering your username and
password.

5. Select "Manage Components" from the System
menu.

6. Use the Component Install -> 'Install a selected
hotfix or service pack file' 'Browse' button, to
find the location of the HotFix file
  WSe30HF211703-449.101.zip and select 'Open'. A
popup will appear saying "This operation requires
an automatic log off which may cancel any changes
you have made! Do you want to continue?" - press
the "yes" button to install the HotFix. Please
note. Installing this HotFix requires the
appliances onboard web server to be restarted.
Normally this causes an automatic log off as
described in the popup. However, in some
instances the UI may display the text "ERROR
null" on the progress line. This can safely be
ignored by the user. If this occurs the user
should just logout and login again to complete the
  installation.

7. Once the HotFix is installed, select 'About
WebShield' and ensure that the correct HotFix
  number is displayed.

8. If a browser is being used to access the
appliance configuration, then the browser should
be shutdown, and the Java Cache cleared via the
  Java Control Panel.

     NOTE:
If you plan to use the
     WSe30HF211703-449.101.zip archive file again,
keep it available on your computer. Otherwise,
delete the file once the HotFix has been
     installed successfully.

NOTE:
If you reinstall your WebShield V3.0
software, we recommend that you also
reinstall the HotFix.
